Haven’t been to an InfoReady Review User Group in a while? No sweat; we have you covered. Here are three great competition management tips we’ve recently learned from clients in attendance:
Set Expectations for New Users: It’s normal to experience some resistance to change when switching to an automated system. Most of our clients say it’s much easier to embrace the change after just one competition. A great tip to help applicants and reviewers adjust more quickly is to communicate what the experience will be like in advance of a competition. Some clients add tips to the first auto-email that applicants and reviewers receive. Others have held demo sessions to show applicants and reviewers what to expect.
Create a Plan to Consistently Announce Competitions: Consistent sharing of competitions is one of the easiest, most effective ways to increase your office’s capacity. Suggested mediums from clients include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, departmental homepages, email campaigns, and monthly department newsletters. However you share, make sure you share regularly – consistency is key!
Design Reviews with a Goal in Mind: When designing your review process, make sure you have a clear goal for each routing step and communicate that goal to reviewers. Here's a couple great examples:
To help applicants improve their submission, ask reviewers for thorough comments that can be shared with applicants. A simple rating scale is not likely to help an applicant understand where he or she could have improved.
To quickly select finalists (or awardees) from a large applicant pool, focus on standardized rating scales. This enables you to easily filter out unqualified candidates and quickly determine which applicants require further conversation.
The common theme: Transparency! When administrators communicate expectations and goals to other administrators, reviewers, and applicants, competitions run more smoothly.
Automation of manual processes can dramatically improve competitions, no ifs, ands or buts about it.
We hope these tips help you get the ball rolling.
Thank you to all of you who have been participating in our User Groups. Please mark your calendars for the next session, coming to you March 29th at 3pm EST and March 30th at 11am EST. Official announcements will be out later this week.
