Director of Research Analytics & Communications
As programs in undergraduate research have grown and increased in importance to all sizes of institutions, so has the burden on the administrative staff to effectively manage the work. Processes that were managed by emails and spreadsheets or printed packets of documents, are no longer sustainable at higher levels of participation and funding.
InfoReady’s software can transform cumbersome and tedious manual processes of gathering applications and reviews into a streamlined digital workflow enhanced by automation. InfoReady save hundreds of hours of time through its web-based data collection, standardization, and automation platform.
InfoReady is simple to configure (no IT support needed), easy for all to use and provides insights that can enhance the outcomes of undergraduate research programs.
Following are some common ways InfoReady is being used to support undergraduate research.
Scholarships & Fellowships
InfoReady’s application form ensures applicants submit the required information and materials in a standard format. Reviewers receive PDF packets for each applicant with a paginated and labeled table of content. Routing steps are built specifically for each verification and feedback stage, including financial aid representatives. Easy-to-use reports show applicant status and ranking through each routing step.
Poster Competitions
Basic project or presentation information is presented on the department’s web-based portal. Mentor information is gathered directly from the presenter. Information is automatically routed to judges or others that need to provide feedback. Information is fed directly into InfoReady’s Engagement Hub to showcase presenters and their materials on a mobile-friendly webpage.
Recruiting Faculty Mentors
Gather interest with a basic form, then share the web-based link in newsletters, listservs, social media, or internal webpage. Use the information collected on submitted forms as a database of interested faculty to be mined anytime.
Funding Requests
Student requests for funds for supplies or research-related expenses can be collected and tracked so data can be exported for accounting processes as needed.
Documenting Academic Requirements
As students complete research as part of an honors program or certificate, InfoReady’s Progress Reports track learning outcomes and collect information on any tangible results, like conference attendance and publications.
Intensive Summer Research Programs
When faculty and staff review and critique student presentations from summer research projects, InfoReady’s rubrics with the Comments & Ratings Routing Step are used to provide standardized scoring. Award and reject notifications are used to share judges' feedback and help presenters learn.
In-Person or Virtual Events
InfoReady is used to collect posters as file uploads and links to audio and video submissions for events. Automated imports from the InfoReady platform to an Engagement Hub seamlessly creates a mobile-friendly website for attendees.
These are only a few of the dozens of ways higher ed institutions are using InfoReady to streamline and automate the work of applications, review, decisions and tracking across their campuses.
